The 2011-2012 school year was a busy one for Lauren and Peter. First, they celebrated the marriage of Peter’s sister Allison to Rob Silver in August. Then, Peter went off to work and search for jobs in DC, while Lauren returned to school to write her own (epic) thesis. Finally, as Lauren prepared to graduate, Peter learned that he received an offer to work at the Belfer Center at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. Peter returned to Cambridge and prepared to work; Lauren, meanwhile, interviewed for jobs in the Boston area. On the first day of Peter’s new job, he got a call from Lauren: she was offered a job on the spot by a think tank at Boston College, and she accepted.

They were living together again, this time in Cambridge!

Life in Cambridge was (and remains) fantastic for them, despite the ups-and-downs of rental life. It took several tries before finding a great apartment: Peter still remembers facing down a swarm of beetles in their Peabody Terrace apartment, while Lauren would like to forget the unwanted yelps of their neighbor’s dog at 5:30 AM on Magazine Street. Nevertheless, they have continued to grow in love for each other as they built their first true permanent home together.
